The AF Group Agency Education team delivers an innovative curriculum focused on the foundational concepts of workers’ compensation.  We offer an interactive approach to learning, founded on adult learning principals, providing insurance professionals with a unique opportunity to gain valuable insurance knowledge while networking with fellow industry professionals.

Who We Are

Joe Elliott, CAWC, Education Specialist II, AF Group

joe-eJoe began his career at AF Group in late 2016, returning to his home state of Michigan after spending 21 years in North Carolina.  He has many years of professional experience in Property and Casualty (P&C) underwriting, training, and curriculum development roles with other carriers.  Most recently, he was a licensed P&C and Accident Fund-appointed agent.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Michigan State University and holds the Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC) designation.

Joe enjoys a relaxed life in Haslett, Mich., and when he’s not training insurance agents, he’s enjoying high adventure on the ski slopes, traveling the globe and even sky diving.  His goal for next year is to spend more time at the lake boating with family and friends.

Katie Janik, Education Specialist II, AF Group

Katie joined the AF Group team in 2019. She brings three years of workers’ compensation experience along with a background in training, motivating and educating others. She most recently held the position of Claims Representative at United Heartland – one of AF Group’s workers’ compensation brands.

Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and business from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater – and has earned the Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC) designation.

Katie is an extrovert who loves spending time with friends and family. In her spare time she enjoys boating with her husband, son and their dog – and taking her son on adventures and watching his excitement as he explores new experiences.

Erin Miller, Education Specialist II, AF Group

erin-millerErin began her career at AF Group in 2018, bringing nearly eight years of experience in the insurance industry – most recently as a senior training consultant.

Erin utilizes her passion for teaching through a valuable combination of insurance and education experience. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Business Management from Cleary University in Feb. 2017, and will complete her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Analytics, Technology and Innovation from Cleary in Dec. 2018.

Erin is a busy mom to two teenagers – her 13-year-old son, Caden, and 15-year-old daughter, Makayla. Erin enjoys spending time with her family, including camping, family game night, swimming or watching movies. Erin is an active volunteer on her children’s sports teams, including serving on the board of her son’s football team.
