Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer
Michael Hicks serves as chief information officer for AF Group. Hicks is responsible for defining and implementing a strategic technology vision that is aligned with the company’s long-term growth initiatives and ongoing business objectives.
Prior to joining AF Group, Hicks spent three years at Guardian Life as Chief Information Officer for Retirement Solutions and Corporate Technology where he was responsible for leading technology strategy and solutions delivery in support of Guardian’s retirement plans business and corporate divisions. Additionally, he spent seven years at MassMutual Financial Group as Vice President of Shared Delivery Services where he was responsible for leading enterprise IT shared services as well as solutions delivery for MassMutual’s corporate business units. Hicks also spent five years as Vice President, U.S. Wealth Management Operations at The Hartford Financial Services Group where he served in executive operational leadership roles for The Hartford’s individual annuities, retirement plans, and institutional investments businesses. Before that, he spent two years at Phoenix Life where he served as Vice President of Information Technology and twelve years at Lincoln Financial Group with his final three years in the role of Chief Information Officer for Lincoln’s Annuity and Retirement Plans businesses.
Hicks has 25 years of active leadership in the insurance industry through organizations including the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) where he has chaired multiple committees and conferences. Hicks has a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and an MBA from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business.
