Who We Are

Joe Elliott, CAWC, Training Specialist II, AF Group

joe-eJoe began his career at AF Group in late 2016, returning to his home state of Michigan after spending 21 years in North Carolina.  He has many years of professional experience in Property and Casualty (P&C) underwriting, training, and curriculum development roles with other carriers.  Most recently, he was a licensed P&C and Accident Fund-appointed agent.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Michigan State University and holds the Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC) designation.

Joe enjoys a relaxed bachelor life in Haslett, Mich., and when he’s not training insurance agents and dining on microwave dinners, he’s enjoying high adventure on the ski slopes and traveling the globe.  His goal for 2017 is to score the sports car he thinks will fit very nicely into his mid-life crisis.

Amanda Schillinger, LPCS, CAWC, Training Specialist II,  AF Group

amand-sAmanda joined AF Group in 2016.  Prior to that, she taught high school business and insurance classes at both Berkley High School in Berkley, Mich. and the Capitol Area Career Center in Mason, Mich.  In addition, Amanda has industry experience handling Property and Casualty (P&C) claims, managing claims adjusting teams, claims quality assurance, and agency customer service. She received both a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Marketing and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Teacher Preparation from Eastern Michigan University, and holds the Legal Principles Claim Specialist (LPCS) and Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC) designations.

When she is not engrossed in the world of insurance, Amanda enjoys providing her five-year-old son constant, unwavering reminders to eat his veggies and soliciting her husband for his thoughts on when exactly he’ll be “ready” for more pets. Other interests include finding the flat-sided puzzle pieces, perusing Pinterest for DIY projects she’ll never do, Family Feud, live music and yoga.
