AF Group Announces Annual Employee and Leadership Awards

AF Group has announced the recipients of its annual employee and leadership awards.

2019 Leader of the Year

Rita Ramsey, director of the AF Group Service Center, has been recognized as the 2019 AF Group Leader of the Year.

Ramsey, based at AF Group’s headquarters in Lansing, oversees a team of individuals that provide support to agents, policyholders, injured workers and other AF Group employees.  She began her career in 2006 as manager of the Service Center.

“Rita has been an incredible asset to AF Group,” said Linda Barnes, vice president of the AF Group Service Center. “She regularly challenges the status quo and assesses our current processes with new and innovative approaches to improving customer service.  Her strong leadership is always on display.”

Ramsey has earned her Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC) and holds numerous insurance industry designations.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban Public Policy from Michigan State University. Ramsey is actively involved in numerous community and civic organizations including the Greater Lansing Food Bank, Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity, the Mason Public Schools and CapCity Athletic.  Ramsey and her family reside in Mason, Mich.

2019 Employee of the Year

Arthur J. Miller III, manager of Government Affairs at AF Group, has been named 2019 Employee of the Year.  Miller, a 16-year veteran of AF Group, began his career as a legislative analyst.  During his tenure, he has partnered with AF Group leadership to transform the Government Affairs unit from a regionally-focused department to a state and national-level operation addressing critical legislative and regulatory issues while establishing valued partnerships with key industry organizations.

“Simply put, Art is a world-class problem solver,” said Kevin Zielke, senior vice president and general counsel at AF Group.  “Art has a strong reputation in the industry and he is a difference-maker who has greatly contributed to the success of our organization over the past several years.  His contributions to our growth are immeasurable.”

Miller serves as chair of the American Property Casualty Insurance Association’s Workers’ Compensation Committee and is an executive board member of the Insurance Alliance of Michigan.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.  Miller and his family reside in Mason, Mich.
