Details:

The Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC) program has been established in partnership with Olivet College, a recognized leader in insurance education. Grounded in our more than 100 years of industry success, the program offers a unique perspective on workers’ compensation, combining business acumen with other key subject areas for an innovative learning experience.

Earning the CAWC designation provides a competitive advantage for agents and producers by giving them the tools and knowledge necessary to win business, create client loyalty and be viewed as an authority on workers’ compensation.

The CAWC covers the following courses:

Experience Modification & Classification

Experience Modification & Classification
This class provides an in-depth look at experience modification (e-Mod) factors to help agents calculate, understand and explain the ramifications associated with a high rating. The second part of this class provides an overview of NCCI rules involving risk classification of workers’ compensation insurance. The class will include discussion about governing classification and standard exceptions.

Claims

Claims
This course provides end-to-end claims training. Areas of focus include: the importance of timely claims reporting, the coverage verification process, workers’ compensation claim handling steps, the value of the reserving process, claims management programs, and detecting and preventing claims fraud.

Loss Control

Loss Control
Loss control is a vital component of helping clients control their losses and reduce their experience modification factor. This course covers the basics of loss control programs, including risk identification injury prevention and safety services.

Return to Work

Return to Work
To be an expert in workers’ compensation insurance, agents must have a strong understanding of how to implement a return-to-work program. This class details how an effective return-to-work program can save employers money while providing their employees the best care possible.

Alternative Workers' Comp Programs

Alternative Workers’ Comp Programs
This course focuses on the competitive advantages associated with loss sensitive plans, such as retrospective rating plans, large deductible plans and self-insurance, as well as how large agencies use these types of programs to help customers save money.

United States Longshore & Harbor Workers Act

United States Longshore & Harbor (USL&H) Workers Act
USL&H provides employment injury and occupational disease protection to approximately 500,000 workers. This class examines the impact on business and coverage needs for policyholders as well as who is covered, the basic provisions and requirements, and employee rights.
